For episode three of Farm Boys we take a drive back up the coast to Anna and Tim’s property in The Village.
Anna Taylor, Tim Jones and their kids are classics, the ultimate outdoor family. They surf, they sail, they garden and they’re savants of sustainability, right down to the family surf wagon that runs off used cooking oil.

You might recognise Anna. She was a leading campaigner on the Fight for the Bight and appeared in Patagonia’s 2018 surf/enviro film Nevertown. She’s recently also been involved in the successful campaign to stop the nuclear waste dump that was being proposed at nearby Kimba.
Anna and Tim’s place at The Village is an oasis amongst kilometres of barren paddocks in all directions. They bought it as an abandoned farmhouse a while back, and immediately set about planting the property out to the boundary with fruit trees and gardens. The result of all that hard work has been spectacular – a five-minute forage around the garden will see you return with a cornucopia of greens, grapes, potatoes, apricots and plums so sweet that one bite will transport you into a realm of earthly delight.
The family are a huge inspiration to Heath, and when asked for their advice on creating a garden space like theirs’, Anna replies: “Embrace it, do it, love it, get into it. Don’t be too hard on yourself. It’s really rewarding. Don’t be put off that a fruit tree takes 10 years to fruit, because 10 years will go just like that.”
